Jozy Altidore is Named 2016 US Soccer Player of the Year
Following an incredible performance on the pitch, Altidore was named US Soccer’s Male Player of the Year on Friday. Unveiled during the MLS Cup Preview Show on FS1, this is the second time that the player has won the award following his acceptance of it in 2013.
Altidore said of winning the accolade. “This is truly an honor to receive this award. It’s also very humbling when you look at such a talented group of teammates nominated for this accolade along with you. At the end of the day, any success I have had on the field this year is in large part due to their success and contributions.”
Altidore recently became the first player to ever score in five straight matches during a singe MLS postseason; he was consequently named Man of the Match and now accepts Male Player of the Year.
