Kew Media Group Acquires Sienna Films
In it latest indie acquisition, Kew Media Group has obtained Toronto-based Cardinal producer Sienna Films in a deal worth $3 million (£1.8 million), which marks the Canada-based Group’s move into scripted production, following a number of February investments into national indies Architect Films, Bristow Global Media, Frantic Films, Media Headquarters Film & Television and Our House Media.
Sienna Films is behind a number of productions such as Ransom and Diamonds, but is recognised predominantly for Cardinal (Canada’s CTV, US SVoD service Hulu and BBC4).
“Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny have built an exceptional company through creative and innovative work and have proven time and again the ability to develop and deliver quality content,” Steven Silver, Kew Media Group’s Chief Executive said. “We welcome these two truly great professionals into our group.”
With Kawaja and Sereny, co-founders of Sienna Films adding: “As independent content producers who have devoted our careers to compelling and meaningful stories for a range of audiences, the opportunity to be part of Kew Media’s strong international platform is extremely exciting.”
