Nedum Onuoha signs new contract at Queens Park Rangers
QPR Captain Nedum Onuoha has signed a new contract at Loftus Road
Nedum, who joined Rangers from Manchester City in January 2012, has penned a two-year contract extension to the summer of 2018.
Onuoha has made 92 starts and 12 substitute appearances in his four years in W12, and the 28 year-old is delighted to have extended his stay at Loftus Road, commenting: “The last three and a half years have most certainly been exciting to say the least,” he said.
“The way the club is looking now, aiming to stabilise for the future, it’s another exciting period ahead.”
Under the leadership of newly-appointed skipper Onuoha, Rangers have made a promising start to the season, with three wins on the spin lifting Chris Ramsey’s side into fourth place after five games in the Sky Bet Championship.
He added: “I’m enjoying my role as captain – everyone is here for the right reasons, everyone wants the same thing, so it makes my job easier.
“We’re pleased with how we’ve started the season. I felt in pre-season we had something and that we could get positives results in this division, and so far that’s proved to be the case.”
QPR Head Coach, Chris Ramsey, believes Onuoha’s new deal sends out a strong message to his team-mates, as well as providing a big boost to the club in general.
“Nedum is one of our most experienced players and him signing a new deal is fantastic news for everyone connected to the football club,” he told www.qpr.co.uk.
“He’s our captain, our leader, and his performances so far this season have been to an exceptionally high standard.
