A gifted singer/songwriter who counts acting, football and presenting among his many talents, Louis Tomlinson has shone brightly throughout his time with One Direction. Following the release of his incredible debut solo single, 'Just Hold On' with Steve Aoki, he is currently working on his highly anticipated debut solo album.
Having started his music career on The X Factor, the 25-year-old has grown into an international superstar alongside his band-mates.
A keen performer, Louis started his career as an actor, taking part as an extra in comedy Fat Friends as a child. Following some small television roles, including If I Had You and Waterloo Road when he was 11, the confident entertainer auditioned for the seventh season of The X Factor in 2010 and advanced several rounds, before being formed into a group with fellow contestants Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik to become One Direction, a group that eventually finished the competition in third place.
Following the competition, Syco signed One Direction, and the band soon rocketed to worldwide stardom, performing at multiple events in a number of countries, and earning a wealth of fans across the world with their first single, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ (released in 2011), which became a global No.1 hit.
The most successful act to come from the The X Factor, and certainly one of the most globally successful bands in the world, One Direction has enjoyed a succession of hits, including four No.1 singles and four No.1 albums; winning 169 awards and embarking on four world tours throughout their career. The boys made their fifth and latest album, ‘Made in the A.M.’, in November 2015, performing two tracks from it on the The X Factor final, before announcing they were taking a hiatus from touring in 2016.
A keen philanthropist, Louis has invested an impressive amount of time and resources into a number of worthy charitable causes including projects for Sport and Comic Relief, Nordoff Robbins, Save the Children (Action/1D project), The Eden Dora Trust and Greenpeace.
Through his song writing capabilities Louis steered 1D to four #1 albums in both the UK and USA. With over one billion streams as a solo artist, Louis’ first collaboration with Steve Aoki, ‘Just Hold On’, was number 1 in forty-two countries worldwide whilst ‘Back To You’, his first solo single featuring Bebe Rexha, reached thirty-one top spots. With an impressive social following of over 56 million, Louis is currently recording his debut solo album.
