At last count, the duo (consisting of Ruben Den Boer and Victor Pool) boasted over 80 million Soundcloud streams, among them remixes for giants Tiësto, Calvin Harris and Adele. Starting in 2013, just a year after forming, Vicetone made DJ Mag’s Top 100 three years in a row, reaching #36 in 2014. To date the duo has earned five Hype Machine chart-toppers and five consecutive hits on Beatport’s Top 10, including a #1 with “Let Me Feel”, plus “I’m On Fire,” “United We Dance” and “Pitch Black”. “United We Dance” dominated 2014’s festival circuit, becoming the official song for Ultra Music’s Aftermovie. The very next year, the renowned festival made “Follow Me” its official anthem.
Ruben and Victor are not just open to other genres; they’re committed to reaching audiences beyond the dancefloor. In 2016, Vicetone contributed to a soundtrack remix album for the video game League of Legends.
In 2016, the duo has transitioned from singles into longer forms on its debut EP, Aurora. Comprising five songs, Aurora features diverse collaborations with former American Idol contestant Pia Toscano, L.A. Grammy nominated songwriter Raja Kumari, and R&B- leaning duo Cosmos & Creature.
London’s Ministry of Sound, New York’s Pacha and L.A.’s Create are homes away from home for the duo that are constantly touring. Vicetone also perform at the world’s biggest music festivals including Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Ultra Japan, Ultra Bali, as well as Tomorrowland and TomorrowWorld. It’s a long way from Groningen, Netherlands where Ruben and Victor bonded over a passion for dance music idols like Eric Prydz and Swedish House Mafia, dreaming of playing their own music to thousands.
