Phil Vickery - Gangs, WAGs and mugs... all key to a good World Cup trip

James Grant rugby client Phil Vickery has teamed up with 188BET to write a weekly column in the Daily Mail for the duration of the Rugby World Cup.
Phil, who is currently in New Zealand preparing for his role as co-commentator for ITV Sport at the tournament that gets underway on Friday, begins by offering a unique perspective on how the players should deal with the difficulties of a long, arduous tournament in hostile territory.

"New Zealand is a long way from home and people forget these guys have already been together for nine weeks at Pennyhill Park.
It is imperative to avoid cabin fever and the only way to do that is by enjoying each other's company. They are, first and foremost, a single unit but the guys will already have their little gangs and cliques within the squad.
People tend to hang out with the other players in their position. I used to spend all my time with the front row - you spend so much time training together they are inevitably the guys you know best. Jason Robinson used to like to hang out with us too. There would be two big fellows walking around with little Billy Whizz in the middle. I guess he needed the protection."
