Greg James to host new BBC 3 show.

BBC Three will unearth what us Brits really think and get up to in brand new series, Look At The State Of You, hosted by Greg James.

Look At The State Of You (w/t) is a brand new series for BBC Three that will lift the lid on what us Brits really think and get up to. It’s the show that delivers an alternative social census of the UK and caters for the nation’s number one obsession – themselves. The series will deliver an alternative, funny state of the nation by conducting a huge nationwide questionnaire asking everything from the national to the personal, the eye-opening to the downright daft.

From our sex lives to our moral compass, no stone is left unturned as questions, from the serious to the very light-hearted, include: How does wealth really affect the number of sexual partners you’ve had? Where in the country are people most likely to have slept with a friend’s partner? How much if any would be the lowest amount of money you would want to have your little toe chopped off? How often do we really delete our internet history? Who’s more likely to have a favourite child – mums or dads?

Radio 1 DJ Greg James and comedian Russell Kane will host proceedings in this studio based comedy entertainment show, which over six weeks will unfurl the results of our unique questionnaire. The show will involve celebrity guests, audience surprises and hidden camera stunts, along the way exploring how beliefs and behaviours differ across the nation.

Greg James says of the new series: "I'm pretty sure we live in a nation full of characters - this show will find out once and for all just how weird we actually are. It'll also make me feel better about how often my internet history is cleared!"

Zai Bennett, Controller, BBC Three, says of the series: "Look At The State Of You will be a unique show examining the state of the nation that is the BBC Three audience. With Greg and Russell at the helm it promises to be an irreverent and hilarious look at exactly what our audience are up to and what they think of one another."

Managing Director, Talkback, Dan Baldwin, comments: “Look At The State Of You dives behind your front door and smashes through the veneer of modern day Britain to discover what we are all really up to.

"This is going to be a big entertainment show for BBC Three. We are extremely excited about this commission. We have two of the UK’s biggest talents, in Greg and Russell, hosting the show and I believe this will springboard huge TV careers for both of them.”

James Grant Music scores new Channel 5 show.

Channel 5 holiday programme, Holiday: Heaven on Earth launched last week on Thursday night produced by Shoreditch based indie Blink Films.

Blink contacted the media finance team at James Grant to request some deficit finance for the programme. The budget on the project was very tight, particularly for the music. While we explored various financing options we introduced Blink to our music division. They were incredibly impressed with Richard Northen, James Grant's internal creative/music supervisor and his network of composers. Rich started work immediately on the series and delivered compositions for the entire project in a matter of weeks. The producer received an unprecedented response from the commissioner who required no changes to the first episode. In total we delivered genre specific tracks for the entire 10 episode series.

The quality and efficiency with which the project was delivered endorses the unique offering available at James Grant. If your project requires cash flowing, deficit finance or indeed music, branding, talent, voiceover or PR then please contact Jonathan McMorrow.

Matt Allwright to host The Exit List

James Grant is pleased to announce that Matt Allwright will host ITV1's 'The Exit List', an intellectual game show in which contestants can win up to £200,000. A pair of contestants will descend into a giant 24 room maze searching for a room that holds £100,000. The trouble is, the further the contestants go in, the harder it is to get out – because to escape with the money, they must remember The Exit List.

In each room, the contestants must answer a question with four possible answers. Get the question right, they pocket the cash and only that answer appears on The Exit List. Get it wrong, and all four answer options go on The Exit List. And the immediate way ahead is blocked. When their memories can take no more, the contestants turn back but to escape with the money they must remember their exact route out and every single answer on their Exit List.

The show is set to air on ITV1 on Tuesday 10th January at 8pm

ITV, talkbackTHAMES and Syco TV today announced that Ant and Dec will host the show once again and Simon Cowell will return to hit show, Britain’s Got Talent, when it arrives back on our screens for a sixth series in Spring 2012.

Joining Simon on the panel will be actor and comedian David Walliams, singer, songwriter and dancer Alesha Dixon, alongside returning Judge, Amanda Holden.

Simon Cowell said: “I miss Britain and I miss the British public and I miss judging them. I want to find the next generation of talent in 2012. Different and new acts, younger and better talent. You want someone who can be a star all over the world and by coming back in 2012, it's the year of the Olympics, it's a big year for Britain, we are going to be in the world's spotlight and I want this show to be back in the world spotlight. This year I really felt that I've got to put my money where my mouth is, so I'm personally putting up £250,000, so that's £500,000 cash to the winner, so that's a big incentive.”

Britain’s Got Talent will also be holding its first ever open audition in partnership with Virgin Media on Sunday 22nd January at London’s Oval, to welcome new and exciting acts from across the UK the chance to show off their talent.

James Grant is pleased to announce that Clare Balding will present a major 30-part Radio 4 series charting how Britain has shaped sport and how sport has shaped the British.

'In Sport And The British', Clare will look at the vital and unique role sport has played, and continues to play, in British national life.

The narrative history series, which begins on Radio 4 on Monday, 30 January 1.45-2pm, has been made with support from the team at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture at De Montfort University in Leicester.

Clare said: “For me sport has always been at the centre of my existence. Horse racing isn’t just a hobby for my family, it’s a way of life. And having embraced all games as a child and ridden as an amateur jockey, I have presented and commentated on sport for nearly all of my adult years.

Olympic Presenter Line Up Announced

The BBC has announced the line-up of presenters for its TV coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games including James Grant clients Clare Balding, Gabby Logan and Sonali Shah.

The presentation team, who will be based in studio or at the various venues, will front the comprehensive coverage throughout the Games on BBC One and BBC Three.

Mishal Husain will host the morning show from 0900-1130 on BBC1 with live sport venue presenters on site including: Clare Balding (swimming), Jonathan Edwards (athletics) and John Inverdale (rowing).

Continuing after 1130 through to 1600, the daytime presenters will include: Matt Baker (also on site at gymnastics), Clare Balding (also on site from diving, equestrian and swimming), Jake Humphrey (also on site from track cycling) and Hazel Irvine.

Clare commented: It will be the highlight of my working life to play such a key role in the BBC's coverage of the 2012 Olympics. I am thrilled and very proud to have been given such a varied role covering sports that I enjoy and care about. I have been doing a little dance of joy ever since I heard the news.

Gabby Logan will bring together the sport and late night events from across the UK from 2235-midnight on weekdays.

Gabby remarked: I am utterly thrilled to be part of a wonderful BBC Olympic presentation team. I have been a fan of the Olympics for as long as I have been watching TV, I remember spending hours glued to the LA Games in 1984 where my sport Rhythmic Gymnastics was featured for the first time, and the first games I went to as a spectator were Barcelona in 1992. Then I came to the BBC to work in 2007 and presented in Beijing in 2008. This is a childhood dream about to be realised to work on an Olympic Games at home in London. If you've never been to an Olympic Games its difficult to imagine how magical they are and what an incredibly uplifting experience this will be for the nation.

On BBC Three a combination of Manish Bhasin, Rishi Persad and Sonali Shah will welcome morning viewers and take them through the afternoon up to 1900.

Sonali Shah said: I'm absolutely delighted to be part of the BBC presentation team for London 2012. I was lucky enough to be at the Beijing Games, but an Olympics in my own home city - that is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm so excited to be fronting BBC Three's daytime coverage. For the past year on British Olympic Dreams I've been following Britain's biggest medal hopes as they prepare for 2012 and now I get to help showcase the main event to the nation. I cannot wait!

The BBC has committed to bringing live sport from every venue where it’s happening – and at peak expects to be delivering 24 simultaneous live streams on the BBC Sport website, which is four times more than Beijing in 2008. Viewers can begin planning their Olympic viewing already through the BBC Sport website’s session by session online guide: bbc.co.uk/Olympics.

The full BBC line-up including: radio, TV reporters, TV commentators and TV pundits will be released at a later date.

BBC Three Commission New Documentary on Gang Culture

Mentorn Media has been commissioned to make an hour-long documentary where Reggie Yates investigates the realities of youth gang culture, it was announced today (Thurs).

Teenage Gangs UK (working title) sees Reggie Yates explore the culture of fear, anger and violence which drives the dangerous world of teenage gangs.

Police estimate that there are now more than 170 street gangs in London alone, and other major cities like Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester also have huge problems.

In a bid to understand how people get drawn into this murky world Reggie meets teenagers who’ve been in gangs, and hears how gang membership is one of the few ways of being accepted in some neighbourhoods.

He also talks to young people who are trying to break free of a life of gangland crime, and meets the former leader of the most feared street gang in South London.

Executive Producer for Mentorn Media, Steve Anderson, said: "The riots in the summer showed how organised and powerful some gangs have become, particularly in parts of the capital. Added to the individual acts of robbing and looting, it created a frightening scenario that had to be tackled by a massive show of police force.

“This film is trying to give viewers a look into a world that television very rarely gets to see. It’s not a place that welcomes public attention, but we have been working hard to present as full a picture as possible.”

Reggie said: "I see this as an opportunity to discover whether people can turn their lives around regardless of the start they have been given. My aim is to talk to people who have been in gangs and try to discover what it was that made the difference to turn their lives around in a positive way."

Gethin and Charlotte will explore different areas of Britain. In each episode their mission will be to seek out, to discover and experience the most inaccessible, unexplored and unknown sights, sounds and heritage of the UK and to capture their splendour on camera.

In the first episode of the series Gethin and Charlotte journey above and below Britain's oldest national park, The Peak District, better to understand the forces that have shaped it’s amazing landscape.

On day one of their two-day adventure in the district described as nature's adventure playground, Gethin takes to the skies in a microlight, soaring over the radically different landscapes at 2,000 ft, witnessing the staggering effect the ages have had on its dramatic terrain.

The Judges said of the category:

Children's factual television is one of the most challenging genres and one of the most challenging to get right. Today, children are bombarded with images and material and TV has to work incredibly hard to catch their attention. Our judges thought that one programme had definitely succeeded in achieving this - BBC Newsround with it's special edition 'Growing Up In A War Zone'. This was a highly educational programme, with a compelling mix of history and contemporary life, the judges noted, transporting the viewer to the challenging environment of Afghanistan and explaining how children's lives there are affected by the continuing conflict. The varied, colourful stories of the children in the programme are sure, said one judge, to resonate with young audiences in societies that are very different from that featured in the programme. It was also refreshing, commented another judge, that this multi-faceted look at life in Kabul presented a different story to that presented in news bulletins every day.
