Richard Crompton


Richard Crompton is a former journalist and TV producer.

Since 2005, Richard has lived and worked in East Africa, covering the continent for a variety of news outlets and the United Nations.


In 2010 he won the Daily Telegraph ghost story competition.


His first novel, The Honey Guide, is a detective thriller of political intrigue set against the backdrop of electoral violence, and was published in 2013 by Weidenfeld & Nicolson (UK) and Farrar, Straus, Giroux (US). His second novel, Hell’s Gate, was published in the UK in May 2014.


Richard lives in Nairobi with his wife and an ever-growing menagerie of small children and animals.
