Greg James

At just 25 Greg has a wealth of experience with his own Radio1 show, a portfolio of voiceover work and a growing number of presenting roles on TV making him one of the most in demand young presenters around.

Greg first appeared on the radio at the tender age of 14 after pestering his local hospital for so long, they eventually gave in, letting him host his own show. However, he later found out that the transmitter was broken and his shows were never actually broadcast.
Undeterred, he became a radio DJ presenter for ‘Livewire’, the student radio station at the University of East Anglia while he studied for a Drama degree. Noted for his natural ability to entertain on air, he won 'Best Male Presenter' at the Student Radio Awards in 2005.

During university holidays Greg worked at Galaxy FM, and before long was soon covering shows across the Galaxy network before being snapped up by BBC Radio1. His first ever Radio 1 show was broadcast on 1st June 2007, the day after he graduated.

Greg was signed up to cover for JK and Joel on Radio1 but before long he was soon covering Sara Cox's weekend show as well after spending a month on the Early Breakfast Friday morning slot. He then became the regular stand-in presenter for Scott Mills' Drivetime show as well as sitting in for a number of shows such as The Surgery, BBC Switch, the Radio 1 Request Show and the Radio 1 Breakfast show on Bank Holidays.

Greg started presenting the Radio 1 Early Breakfast show full time in October 2007 and was promoted to the afternoon show on weekdays from 1-4pm in October 2009. Greg continues to climb the ranks at Radio 1, and April 2012 sees him taking on the challenge of the drive time slot of 4-7pm - a boyhood dream come true!

A huge fan of music, Greg tries to go to as many gigs as humanly possible and also performs his own live DJ sets at student unions across the country. He also anchored Radio 1's coverage of the Reading festival last year.

Greg has also branched out from radio and lent himself to voiceover work for Mumford and Sons, the Take That Progress Tour, 500 Days of Summer DVD and The Sims 3 video game. Greg’s CV also extends to TV presenting. As well as his role hosting the Red Button coverage for Radio 1's Big Weekend, he hosted BBC Three documentaries, Young, Jobless and Living at Home and 2010's Sun, Sex and Holiday Madness on location in Magaluf. He has also secured his first series on BBC3 - Britain Unzipped sees him join Russell Kane to explore the habits of the nation and expose what we really think and get up to!
