Tuesday 16th Jul 2013
We’re used to hearing the bad news about the food we eat, but what’s the good news? In this series, presenter Cherry Healey returns to travel the length and breadth of Britain to continue in her pursuit of whether or not science can unlock the hidden health powers of some of our favourite foods. With the help of scientists, dieticians and the Great British public, she finds out that there can be healthy secrets lurking in the most surprising places.
In this new two part series, Cherry investigates everything from the fat-burning properties of dairy to the brain-boosting berry that could get every student concentrating. She meets with the "porridge world champions" in the Scottish Highlands and analyses the effects of spending a month on a very "nutty diet" to test the theory that high-fat foods may not always lead to weight gain. She discovers that cheddar may hold the secret to a healthy smile. And she takes to the treadmill on a ‘test to exhaustion’ to see if coffee can enhance her gym workouts.
