Born on the 1st on August 1978, Jonathan was raised in Stoke-on-Trent. In 1996, he won the prestigious Cameron Mackintosh Young Entertainer of the Year Award and became the youngest ever entertainer to headline his own Blackpool show.
He is a co-founder of the hugely successful charity initiative ‘Socceraid’, and he and his wife Nikki run two performing arts schools for children aged 3-18 years in Stoke and Swindon – ‘The Wilkes Academy’. Further info can be found here: http://www.wilkesacademy.co.uk/
In 2000, Jonathan signed a deal with Virgin and began to write and record material for his album with songwriters including Guy Chambers, Bryan Adams and Elliot Kennedy.
Jonathan starred in the hit musical Godspell, and appeared as Frank N Furter in the Rocky Horror Show 30th Anniversary Tour.
He has also played the lead role of ‘Danny’ in a special Christmas production of Grease at the Palace Theatre in Manchester and created Soccer Aid (ITV1) in 2006. In 2007, he completed a tour of the Donmar Warehouse production of Guys & Dolls, playing the role of Sky Masterson.
In 2011, Jonathan starred in London’s West End production of Chicago playing Billy Flynn.
Other theatre credits include The Wedding Singer, We Will Rock You and Pantos On Strike.
