The James Grant Weekend Sports Report

Your round up for all the sport on the box this weekend!

SATURDAY

Kick off your weekend with the England’s crucial 4Nations clash against the All Blacks in Dunedin. It’s arguably the most competitive competition in recent history with every team still in with a chance of making the final. Here’s a summary  of the tantalising permutations for tomorrow’s action.

If it’s anything near the quality of the match last time they met , when New Zealand famously knocked England out of the World Cup with a last minute try- then you can expect fireworks! The match was voted the best sporting event at Wembley in 2013 and featured what has since been dubbed ‘the miracle try.’

Catch the match live with Mark Chapman at 6:30 am on BBC 2,or if that’s perhaps a tad early catch up with the highlights at 13:00 on BBC 1.

Relive the highlights of that classic semi-final here:

Or simply watch that try from it. Are there superlatives strong enough to describe this piece of skill?

Then at 12:00 join Jake Humphrey as he hosts coverage of Liverpool vs Chelsea on BT Sport 1. Last season it arguably decided the title race with Stephen Gerrard’s fateful slip to let in Demba Ba. Liverpool will be looking for revenge whilst Chelsea know a win will send them 7 points clear.

It also unleashed the Stephen Gerrard slipping meme into the world- check out some of the best (worst if you’re a liverpool fan) here

Next up on your Saturday of Sport is Rugby Union as Scotland take on Argentina at Murrayfield hosted by Gabby Logan at 17:30.

If you’re after your P45 or simply have far too much free time on your hands you can watch the full match the last time the sides met in June here. Recent history dictates that when these sides meet it’s always a nail biter so be prepared for another classic in Edinburgh!

SUNDAY

Get over your Saturday night excesses with Ben Shephard and Kris Kamara on Goals on Sunday at 10:30am on Sky Sports 1; the perfect hangover cure served alongside bacon rolls, orange juice and paracetamol.

Then in the evening finish off where it all began: with Mark Chapman.  He hosts Match of the Day 2 at 22:30 after a feast of football on Sunday. Resurgent Sunderland take on Europe conquering Everton,  the ever erratic Spurs host Stoke, West Brom take on the in-form Newcastle before Arsenal visit Swansea looking to bounce back from letting a 3 goal Champions league lead slip midweek.

So there you go. Busy weekend sorted.
